Tuesday Tidbit

Tidbit:  Conrad Grebel is about consistency.  Our furniture is made in 10 family workshops before it is brought to one central finish shop to be stained, finished and packaged. Having one single location for finishing allows us to be more consistent with color and quality. Even within the Amish Heirlooms line where there are 15 additional family workshops, we bring all of that furniture to our Conrad Grebel finish shop for the same reason. We invest considerable time and energy ensuring our stains are formulated to properly compliment the wood’s grain. By having a single finish shop we have the advantage of offering better formula’s and coloration for more long term benefit.

Fun Amish Fact:  Northern Indiana has pretty much gone back to normal since the extreme cold and heavy snowfall of last week.  I am reminded of the Amish and their heating units for their woodshops.  At Conrad Grebel we have virtually zero wood waste.  What offal (scrap) isn’t used to make other parts, like chair arms, spindles, etc,. the offal will be used in a wood furnace to heat a woodshop in the wintertime.
